I am moved and inspired by fine metal, gem stones and life experience.
I believe that negative space is just as important as positive and attention
to detail makes the difference between good and excellent. I consider the
human form my canvas in creations my own category and definitive style.
In 1988 I worked for a costume jewelry company in Minneapolis.
Four years later I went to Minneapolis Technical College for Jewelry
Manufacturing and Design. I moved to Breckenridge, Colorado in 1994 and
started working as a goldsmith for Kristina Gold Jewelry Design; in which
I received experience in the world of gold, high-end gem stones and unusual
settings. After 5 years in Colorado and having long desired to create my own
jewelry line, I moved on. In the year 2000 I landed in Portland, Oregon to do
just that. Since then I have been testing the market, increasing my metalsmithing
skills and expanding my ever evolving range of unique designs.
ANN MADLAND is a collection of refined style; classically informed cutting edge
work embodying urban style and my sculptural aesthetic.
